I just got my first paid modeling gig

I thought that this was kind of exciting (yesterday)

A local t-shirt company contacted me and asking me to do a photo shoot for them, with a nautical theme.

So I of course said Yes.
Their budget is far lower than I should have really accepted, but there's lots of potential for future business (her husband either owns or manages the John Deere dealership, so they're connected)

They like 2 of the models I've worked with already, and it looks like I've found the other 2 they're hoping for

Now I just have to find a suitable boat around here.
Good thing that I have a few friends, whom might be able to help in this department

I hope you will keep us informed about the process. We can all learn.

I just got a small gig shooting some scenics for website, brochure, and ads of a small business in the area. Still have to decide on what to charge.

Good luck!

Thanks sholtzma, although even more important is a big old Congratulations to you and your gig.

I recently sold some existing stock photographs for the same purpose as your job.

I can't help you with what to charge.
In my case I had to compete with the Royalty Free companies
However I'm getting a fair amount of "Paid Advertising" out of it
Which I hope that you can get as well.

Stu, your good luck continues to roll in.

Keep us updated with your progress. I found pleasing customers is just way too difficult some times.

Thank you very much,

The boat is proving to be a little problem on a shoestring budget, however I might have access to a NEW model. Possibly on the showroom floor
This would probably work, although I'd prefer some water in the background.

Other than the boat everything else is coming along fine.

I have another wedding coming up shortly, so I don't know when I'll work this shot in. It might not happen for 2 weeks or so.

Hey Stu, great news. I hope you made it clear to them that they are getting the work for a good rate. Repeat business isn't repeat business until you've been paid for it.

Thanks Gary,
I did make it clear that I won't usually work for such a shoestring budget.

If everything goes right I should make a profit, just not as much as I'd usually like

Well I've just found the last model required, as long as they like his looks. And I think that they will.

Plus it looks like Dockside Marine, in Kelowna will be nice enough to let us use a boat for the shoot
I think that they still remember what small business go through, so they were very good.

Now I just need to set up a time, which might be tough.

My Technical Advice

Don't forget to bring some "Kleenex" in case you start drooling. That can be very embarrassing. Oh and try not to stare (in what might be considered in some cultures) in inappropriate directions.

There you have it...Now "Break a Leg"

Thanks Ben,

And there's no chance of drooling, here's my 3 models.

19 year old Bozi

9 year old Danica

And I've never worked, or even met this 6 year old fellow, although I'm good friends with his mom. And she was going to hire me for a family shoot anyways.

Both Danica and the bottom young fellow come from broken homes, and I believe that they can really use the money. So I'm really happy that I have the opportunity to help them out in this small way
And just in time for school

My #1 model Kami got rejected
Even though she's only 9 she looks older than they wanted
