Using Photoshop is counterfeit in the macro. You have to get close to your subject when you shoot sharp if you succeed.

I did play around a bit. It is kind of difficult to get good exposure using the auto mode of the ring flash. My first few shots were over exposed.
P-TTL is pretty much useless at close range. One is better off going to full manual on the flash.

Or use a daylight balanced led panel or flashlight. There are even apps for smart phones and pads to turn their screens into light panels.

I usually use a low powered flash in full manual. I like my SB-15 for this type of thing, my Vivitar's work well also.I made a card with some wrinkled tin foil glued to it, that I sometimes use to bounce the flash off. For close-up work it can work well.

I used my Vivitar 252 bounced off the card on this shot. I believe the 252 is a bit more powerful than my SB-15. I believe the Nikon would have been a bit more subtle.

I don't use ring flash, but what I was to read about it
that is not very good. Try it without flash the 100 2.8 is very good
macro ISO 400-1600 .

If you allow two examples without flash and with flash. I think the nature file is better
