Always encourage the young for they will the photographers of the future, when us old buggers are done.

He's also got some good kit in his bag there. (I'm just jealous, when I was 9 that stuff had been invented).

Miserere wrote a nice piece. After reading it all through, I have but one request...

Can I play with Daniel's camera stuff when he is done?

Never mind the Flickr account, Daniel needs his own home page.

I have to ask--does he have any camera gear on his Christmas wish list?

I'm beginning to understand how a shared hobby like photography can bring a parent and child together. My story is a little different, though--I already had the DSLR and had been at the photography thing for quite some time using various cameras when Dad bought his first DSLR. Unfortunately, I couldn't pass any of my lenses on to him because he bought a Canon (my Pentax conversion efforts didn't work ) and some of their overpriced lenses. I've since gotten over that and don't let it get in the way of our shooting enjoyment. Mid-December, I will be going to visit the parents in Tennessee and Dad and I are planning on taking a side trip with our gear to do some birding. We're also planning on going to the Spring Photography Workshop at Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont next April (Spring Photography Program at Tremont in Great Smoky Mountains National Park).

Javier, keep up the good work with Daniel. He's turning out great!

Excellent stuff Javier. You should be proud but what's even better is you both have a hobby that is outdoors and doesn't involve video games. These are special times and will last you both a lifetime.

Javier: It is so cool to see you and Daniel spending so much time together pursuing something that you both obviously love. The father/son "bonding" time is the best part of this. I think any Dad would love to have a son like yours. I have 2 of them.
