Absolutely, this is the correct way to adjust diopter. Point camera towards something bright, then adjust diopter for max sharpness of the focus screen marks.

You get bad pics because Pentax's metering and PRIME image processing sucks.

That's strange. I know how to use my camera, and I get great results. I wonder what the difference is? Oh wait, maybe it's that part about me knowing how to use my camera...

Why are you here? Sell your K10D and buy a NiKanon. You don't like the metering, the focusing, PRIME. Sell it. Or maybe, just maybe learn HOW TO USE IT.
Like Marc I know how to use all my cameras and get outstanding results from my K10D. But then again I also got good results from my instamatic back in the 70's. And from my old Minolta and Agfa rangefinders. But like I said I actually learned HOW to use them then became proficient with them and found workarounds for their shortcomings. And they all have shortcomings. Especially Canon rebels. Be one with the camera, be the camera......

Canon stinks!

Get the status display on the bottom of the view finder, usually by momentarily pushing the shutter half way. Focus the numeric display. Quick and easy!

I noted both my cameras focus my eyes with the diopter one click left of center. That way I can easily tell if the slider was bumped and easily get back to the right setting.
Oh my God thank you so much.

Just, wow.
