No, the technique being discussed is to put the netting over the lens, either the front or rear element.
Oh, gotta be more uniform and reproducible than smearing Vaseline.

The link you posted is in my files for future reference.

I was talking with a friend yesterday and he recommended not going to this town until the weather cools down. I'm going to follow his advice as the town is in a very hot part of the state and I neither enjoy nor do well when the temps are above 100° or so. However, I'm going to head towards cooler climes and look for old buildings and barns.

Another friend told me about some hard-to-locate silk that's carried by Jo-Ann Fabrics (she managed the local store until she retired recently) and I ordered the snot tape. It's all coming together, just a skosh slower than anticipated. I'll post pics.

That's the way! You can always go to the original location in the fall.

My wife and I were in Death Valley on a day when it hit 118 degrees, I didn't want to leave the car to go to restrooms let alone stroll around taking pictures!

I finally acquired the various netting I want to experiment with, and have been looking at the rear of my lenses to see how best to attach the silk. I've an idea, but want to try it first. If it works, I'll post the details here along with some pics.

One question though: is the distance from the backs of an A and F series lenses to the outer arc of the mirror all the same? Thanks!

The distance of the flange to mirror should be the same on all K-mount lenses. The distance from the rear element to mirror varies from lens to lens and some lenses have "floating" rear elements.

Thanks. That's good to know.
