What do you think?

Taking inspiration from couple of discussions I came across, just spent few hours yesterday night and created this.

PENTAX GALLERY

What do you think?

Thanks for subscribing. Goal of the site is similar to PPG. Difference is pentaxg would be an open gallery against closed submission/approval process of PPG

So anything will be accepted? How would this be any different from, say, Flickr?

To me the problem with PPG is not the limited selection process. The problem is the popularity contest of the public vote.

In one sense it would be combination of flickr and PPG something on the lines of following sites:

the Contax G Pages
The Fuji Rangefinder Pages
MyOlympus.org

There will be some level of moderation to ensure its not turning into free hosting for sharing snaps, pets and things like that. Idea is to let good photographers decide and share what they think is their best work.

I think that the submission should be judged on the forums and if passed, the picture would end up on the site. Have he voting open for maybe 2-3 days and tally the votes afterwards.....

The particular method is beyond my meager ability to contemplate, but I agree there should be some way of making sure that people don't post just anything and everything. Part of the problem with PPG (or any other place in real life or on the net, for that matter) is that too many people don't self-edit very well, or at all.

It should not be transparent who voted for or against a particular photo, I think. Otherwise you'll either end up with everything getting in or a lot of enmity being generated.

May be it could be some sort of invitation only gallery. Entry either through your portfolio, PPG , forum references or by reference of original members. Once you are part of the gallery then you will be able to upload any images you think are good.

Looks promising. I went ahead and registered. Looking forward to whatever you come up with in the way of moderation, which I do believe is necessary.
