It's a shame something flew in the way of your Moon shot.

Great photo!

Darn, I read down further and found you faked the bird. I've seen shots with birds, planes, and the International Space Station in front to the Moon so I assumed it was real.

Mike, I am a novice at moon shots (and most things) But, sure if I use iso 800 that will let in a lot more light and flare it out? Most shots I have tried end up a white glare, except for an orange blur I took last month. Would show you but not sure how to upload photos here.

So here's what i managed to do with a Pentax DA 18-55mm II and shitty reflector telescope with an eyepiece that is pretty tiny...

in the process of it, i learnt that my old tripod isnt strong enough to hold my camera and that i'm a twat for not thinking about putting some rubber on the cheap plastic telescope eyepiece where in lacking to do so allowed me to add some tiny scratches onto my UV filter... heh oh and i learnt that i need to clean my telescope somehow

Using ISO 800 doesn't inherently mean a brighter picture - only if you don't also adjust shutter speed and/or aperture to compensate. And of course, that's exactly what the camera does for you automatically in any exposure mode except "M", and will also do for you in "M" mode when you hit the green button. Not that I'd be inclined to trust the camera's idea of a good exposure for a moon shot unless you've got a telephoto lens big enough that moon comes close to filling the frame.

Not too happy with this one, but this is my first time trying to take moon pictures. I used a Vivitar Series 1 70-210 set to 210mm and f8.

1280x800 version

More screen friendly size

You guys make me wish I still had a decent telescope. I took a shot last night as I thought the moon looked more impressive than usual (didnt know about the space.com article or anything).

Basically just a crop using the DA* 50-135mm.. Man I wish I had a da* 300 or better yet a telescope now
