Originally posted by Alex645 Based on the PC sync location, the lens finish, and the top of the camera, that looks like a Topcon IC-1 from the mid-70's. What's the era of the story in this movie??? I'm pretty sure the end of the film is around 1966, so someone in the Art Department didn't do their homework.
I think he still had the Marilyn Monroe poster up at the time the press conference supposedly took place. It ends in 1966 and as I recall he has a Raquel Welch poster at the time of his escape. So late 50s, early 60s.
You'll notice the flash bulbs have blue film on them too. Most likely everybody most likely would have been shooting B&W film and would have clear/bare bulbs. I still have a carton of GE #5 bulbs and I think they are all clear.
Then again at the time the film was made (1993/1994) flash bulbs I imagine were scarce. I remember the
American Cinematographer article on
The Right Stuff (1983) mentioning they had a difficult time rounding up enough flash bulbs for the press sequences.
Also the Topcon (or whatever) has a potato masher flash bracket it, but it doesn't appear that anything is plugged into the PC socket or shoe (hot or not).
