Input Focal Length

I have a basic question...

When switching on my k-m with an attached lens that does not support automatic acquisition of of focal length information, the camera asks me to manually input the focal length of the lens.

My question is if I should enter the focal length as indicated on the lens or the focal length multiplicated with 1,5 as I am using a DSLR?

Thanks for your help.

You have to input lens focal length, not any "equals".
So, if it is labeled 50mm, you have to input 50mm, not 75mm.

Not to hijack your thread or anything, but I was wondering what one should do when entering the input length of a K or M zoom. I have the SMC-K 1:4 25-145mm and I would really like SR to be a little more effective with it.

Here's the results of a test I ran:

It looks to me like one is best off to underestimate the actual focal length that will be used.

Someone make a friggin sticky about this question, please.

Also, there is NO SUCH THING as a "crop factor". The format is what it is, the focal length is what it is.
Why can't people just get this simple concept.

No offense intended toward the OP, but whoever started the crop factor idea should be tied to a tree and horsewhipped

Thanks a lot Dave, I'll have to try that next time anything fuzzy/feathered creeps into my backyard.

The proper length of the lens, as it says on the lens, this will keep you right.

Of course there is. It just doesn't mean all the things some people *think* it means.

Wheatfield, if you want to post a FAQ thread with answers to the questions that give us a sense of Deja Vu too often, I'll consider making it a sticky to see if it will solve the problem.
