For the really slow stuff, I handhold with a monopod (is that cheating)

I'm still new at this, so 1.5s is pretty good for me, especially considering I was out there in a short sleeve shirt.

K100D
Pentax M 50mm @ f1.4
1.5 sec
ISO 200 (should have probably went for 400, but I didn't think about it)

Using accessories to improve your photography is not cheating. You cheat yourself if you don't.

Actually did this for another reason but thought I'd throw it up here. Who confident hand holding at low shutter speeds. I've got another shot taken at 1/8th with a 85mm Nikkor that I reckons deadly sharp, so I'll claiming it's not the Pentax SR, just me

Ok, here's my favorite for this topic. This is one from a sequence of about 3 or 4 shots:

300mm (in macro mode)
F6.3
1/250 sec
ISO 400

Not really evident in the posted image but at full res, I can see myself and the ridgeline behind me reflected in the bird's eye. I was shocked and stoked.
Talk about an image being sharp, wow !

This was taken with the K100D and kit lens shortly after it came out. 1.5seconds handheld.
Can't touch that, but I'm routinely down between 1/5 and 1/10 shooting in the NYC subways.

1/6 at 55mm and f8.0

SMC Pentax 400mm 5.6

The 400 is my longest lens. I just got it last week and a Sharp Shinned hawk dropped by. No tripod or monopod in reach and I had to shoot fast. This was the best I could do.

Without SR
*ist Ds .8 seconds PENTAX Photo Gallery
*ist Ds .5 seconds PENTAX Photo Gallery
*ist Ds .3 seconds PENTAX Photo Gallery

Since having the K10D and K20D - I have found that I depend on SR as a crutch and most of the long exposure shots are just plain bad. So now I just avoid taking them.
