If you have a K20D you probably jogged a dial by mistake, like I do once in awhile.

Duh, K10D. Don't know if it works the same as the K20D, but in P, you can go to Av or Tv by moving the front and rear dials. Green button gets you back to P.

On a K20D this would happen if you turned the rear e-dial, which be default switches P mode to Av (turning the front dial by default switches to Tv). I just tested this, and it will record your subsequent photos as Av even though the dial's still in P... Pressing the green button returns you to P.

But I can only guess the k10d uses the same logic???

Look at Page 148

This is explained on page 148 of the manual.
If you change the shutter speed, it changes to Sv mode.
If you change the aperture, it changes to Av mode.

Hi Cupic,
I sure do have pictures. Will these do:

I took the first one with a Spotmatic.
The second one is a scan from a calendar.

You think you're in a picckle?

That is some beautiful terrain. And the pictures aren't bad either. Thanks

Yes, I saw that too. The area he is talking about is at the far end of the beach in the first shot.
