Have to brag a bit

A performer that I've shot a couple times invited me to shoot a performance of his in a better setting than the local library. I met with him today to show him the shots and walked away with a pocket full of money for my efforts, with more to come when i deliver the disc of digital files.

Add this to the class I was asked to teach at the arts center where I do my theatre shooting and the promised paid portrait gig for them this summer, I'm feeling pretty darned good about things right now and just had to share. The DA* 50-135 I just bought can be considered more than paid for and maybe there's another new lens in my near future.

The cool thing about the performer I met with today is that I shot the whole show with $37.50 worth of vintage manual lenses from eBay.

Thanks for letting me share.

Your news is just too cool. Lenses like the DA* 50-135 are a wonderful thing, but it is nice to know that good work can still be done with less prestigious glass. Are you able to post some of the shots that put you in the money?

Now all you have to do is ask the performer for referrals. What if they have 6 or 8 colleagues who also need photos? Nice work, have fun and keep going!

Thanks a bunch everyone. He's giving the images to a couple agents he's working with for promotional purposes. Part of the agreement is photocredit and contact info.

Here's one of them. And relatively speaking it wasn't THAT much money, but for me it was. And then there's the thrill of it all. He was over the moon with the shots.

Thanks again everyone. I just found out the the cds of my shots will be going to four different agents in four states. And of course my contact information will be riding along with them. Hopefully I'll get lucky and this will lead to more.

Thanks again for all the great support this forum gives.

Please allow me to add my congratulations! I looked at the whole set on flickr, and they were impressive.
