Any good excuse for buying K-7?

Alright, in about a couple of months, the new hot K-7 will be arriving to the nearby retailers. Having paid a large sum of money just for a hobby just few years ago, to people who have no appreciation for photopgraphy(like my wife, for instance), it is a tough sell to blow $1,300 for yet another camera, especially when K20D is still putting out pretty outstanding photos.

Anybody have any clever excuses that would negate a harsh come back from our significant others? What do I tell her that I will be doing with my K20D once I get my K-7?

"Honey, you will even look prettier with a new camera."

"Honey, our kid will look even more adorable."

These did not work, by the way.

Just out of curiosity, in what way is the K20D limiting your photography and how does the K-7 solve the problem?

"Honey, we could make homemade porn"

All joking aside, I think teh wife might be most interested in the video. I know my wife is constantly asking me "Hey, take a video of {our son}{that squirrel}{etc.}" and each time I have to explain to her "Look sugarpie, this is a DSLR, unlike your Powershot, it ain't got no video, dig?".

And you can bet that when I first told my wife about my intentions of upgrading to the K-7 from K20D, that was the first thing I said "But honeybunny, I'd be able to do video with it now"

The electronic "auto leveling" feature which supposedly makes the horizon...horizontal...sounds nice, as both my bodies have the Pentax leaning viewfinder. The 1/8000 shutter also has possibilites. Rotational SR can only help, and faster burst rate is nice. Hi-def LCD sounds good. Movie mode is a plus if it is not limited by the live view mode heat/time limit. I like the Canon P&S rotating LCD, but for some reason (clunkiness?) I never use live view on the K20D.

I won't be getting a K-7 anytime soon, and I don't even have a better half to worry about.

Now, if you take a few moment to read my thread carefully, you can see that I do not claim at all that k-7 solves any problems at all. In fact, it may create more problems in that I just might have to buy more lenses. The reason I want to buy K-7 is so very quite simple; because I can. I just need a lame excuse for my shameful justification of completely wasteful and childish behavior.

How about:

Let her buy a really expensive purse or piece of jewelry in June.

Or the video. Video of the kid. That might do the trick...

How about:

Getting your money out of the K20D while you still can (if you plan on selling it)?

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

I did read it carefully. I know you didn't make any such claims. That's why I had to ask the question. Sometimes questions really are questions and not merely rhetorical devices. (Did you read my post carefully?)

Give me a little credit. I'm a guy; I knew that much without having to ask.

How's this for an excuse.

According to some interpretations, the end of the Mayan long count calendar, which will occur in late 2012, means the end of the world. So there is no reason in the world to deny yourself anything at all, even if you can't afford it.

I won't be making excuses , but I WILL be getting a K-7 . Mind you , I'm still using my *istD at the moment : all the later *ist models I viewed as downgrades rather than upgrades ; the K10D was nice ( I bought my daughter one , but held off myself) ; I was tempted by the K20D but decided to hold on that little bit longer - glad I did now as I wouldn't have changed from a K20D

My apology. Now that I have just now re-read your post, I get it now. I need to have a good come back to your question because my wife is likely to ask the same.
