right or left eyed?

My left eye is very much more dominant than my right eye. So much so that when I try to use my right eye to look through the view-finder I can't really see anything. So I use my left eye as this is more natural for me.

So what?

Well I shoot a lot of sport and like this I can only see what is happening through the view finder. The view of my right eye is obscured by my right hand. This does make following the play difficult.

Also I'm colourblind but that's another story. (Post-processing is kept to a minimum, white balances not adjusted from the presets)

Do other people have similar problems? What do you do to get round it?

i dont close my eyes....never heard one has to close one eye when using viewfinder.

anyway..if you have the money can actually customize the viewfinder itself.

or maybe switch to another system that has very good live view like 4/3rds or Sony.

My friend does it, He feels like its the right way!!!!
Looks weird though....

Ive just looked threw me cam the Same Way,
I can see what you mean....

you may need a hand grip.....cheers simon

I don't close my eyes either. But I can see through the viewfinder with my left and just my hand with my right. If I could use my right eye in the viewfinder I could also track the play at the same time. which would be useful.

However I'll have to just keep doing it how I do.

Live view isn't really practical for sports. However I can see how it could help.

I seem to be getting good results so I can't be doing it too wrong.

I can use both eyes but am more comfortable with my right eye.

I have always had much better vision with my left eye and have always used that to look through the viewfinder so I know no different.

I wear glasses too so when when critically focussing it can be a bit of a pantomime to get my eye centred correctly.

I also can change ISO on my K10 using my nose !!!

I can only look through the vf with my left eye, as it's the dominant one. Hasn't bothered me at all.

My left eye is better, but I wear contacts so theoretically both eyes should be the same.

For sport shooting, you could mount a rangefinder frame in the hotshoe and use the top LCD for exposure info instead of the in-finder display.

I use my right eye as I find that one to work better for my vision. Also, my nose seems to find a better place to be when using the camera this way. I use corrective lenses, so after scratching up one set of glasses, I finally purchased the rubber eyecup to prevent this from happening to a new pair.

Has anybody noticed their eyes getting wonky when using the camera for a long time? I find that my left eye will have a hard time focusing when I've been using the camera with my right eye for several hours.

Thats called age smigol lol lol My eyes do that too... also when I use my computer too long. My eyedoctor told me what it's called but I forgot.

I use both. I tend to use my left eye more often. It sometimes comes down to how tired I am. If I'm tired, my left eye usually does better for me.

I used to use left, because it felt natural. Only problem is it didn't allow me to control the camera well, because the controls would be obstructed. Later I used right, and I still do.

I find I can control the camera just as well with either eye . . . or just as poorly depending on how you look at it.
