Having just abandoned my Canon equipment for a Pentax K-7, I feel like I'm reentering photography again via a different door. I've been using zoom lenses exclusively for something like 15 years and I just picked up a beautiful, SMC-A 50mm f/1.7 at the local camera shop. Beautiful you might say? Well, after dealing with "light-weight" kit lenses trying to cobble together a hiking kit, I was transported back in time to when I learned photography on an old manual focus Minolta.

So to the topic of my current challenge - learning to SEE AGAIN! I absolutely love the creative opportunities offered by prime lenses. Yep, zooms ruined my ability to see in a focal length since I didn't have a limit to my options. I'm starting to see "scenes" again and imagining backgrounds again at different apertures. I feel liberated. I love having a camera option that fits into a tiny shoulder bag or waist pack that I can haul everywhere with me. Now I just have to get used to the LBA with all that pretty glass hanging around the Marketplace!

My current photographic challenge is actually getting the camera out and turning it on unfortunately.

Although I am setting myself a challenge of picking a lens ... and using it for a while ... and seeing what I can get out of it ... even with it's restraints.

I agree with you here as well. I need to get out and take some more photos instead of setting at home. But lately I've been working 6 days a week and on my day off my wife needs me.

Besides that my challenge is flash photography. I am not talking about simple onboard flash, I am talking about using external flash and making the image not look like flash.
This is probably the hardest thing for me aswell.Making the time to get my camera out would be the most problem I have at the moment. But when I ever get the opportunity, the camera does come out of the cupboard.
