Yah, right, ...The 'free market' will regulate itself, what could *possibly go wrong?*

I mean after eight years of 'the invisible hand' of the market, for investing, I think I'd rather keep my hand on visible Hassie lenses for the time being.

And, I mean, in earnest, if your friend doesn't need that liquefied right now, (and if they can be kept properly) there's a reason a lot of this stuff's being bought up from the East right now. Currency issues. Those'll probably be pretty assured to still be worth something in a while when things settle out.

I spoke to the owner yesterday. It appears the word is out. The buyers are comingout of the woodwork.

I managed to give a fairly accurate value on the items (only cameras) , after many hours in front of the screen, and thanks to all the hints.
She is getting offers of all sorts, and what worries me is the high chance she is going to get well and truly ripped off.
I have made an offer to buy the total as one lot at what I consider to be a more than fair price.
But I think I may be up against it.
For my trouble I have been given a Pentax MX camera (good working order) with a Viv 80-200 lens, Pentax M 35mm 2.8 lens, a Sun 200 mm lens and a box full of odds and ends, i.e. flash brackets, table tripod ( one of the sturdiest I have come across) exposure meters (X3), filters of many descriptions (nearly all 52mm)etc.etc.. So it hasn't been too bad an exercise.

Several lenses she is offering :
2 of Makinon converters
Vivitar 75-205 Macro Pentax mount
Makinon 1.5 500mm Reflex (Ricoh Mount)
Vivitar 75-260 (similar to Ricoh mount??)
Chinon 135mm 2.8 (unknown mount)
Opteka Preset 8.0/ 500mm Super Telephoto (NIB)

AND NOTE THIS !!!!
Tasco 1000-4000mm 15X-60X 60mm world class zoom With Pentax mount. In large carry case.Value ??????????

It has been a very interesting exercise if nothing else
If there is any more to report I will update the thread.

Here are a couple of shots with the Viv 80-200 I gained. It is one very old lens, but doesn't seem to do too bad on my Digital camera :

Does your 80-200 have the lens ID (the part where it says 80-200) on the focus / zoom ring? I only ask because I have a vivitar 80-200 that looks nice as I look through it but the aperture blades are slow. I was considering if it is worth the effort to fix it.

Details as follows :

Vivitar 80-200 1:4.5 MC Zoom NO.28137845 @58mm

Hope that helps and best of luck with your lens.

There were over 50 cameras and the values go from almost nothing to unknown due to rarity.
