How long does one usually wait for PPG?

Hey guys,

I'm beginning to think the "72 hours" thing on PPG is a bit of a fib. I sent a message through the main site requesting an invite code (with a link to my "portfolio" on flickr) about 2-3 weeks ago, and then another via the artist pages this past weekend, without so much as a response. Is this typical, or is this my indication that perhaps I'm setting my sights too high? What's the general time frame for getting a response?

Thanks,
-Al

Are you talking about just requesting membership? That shouldnt take too long. I'd email them and ask again. There is no "qualifying criteria" to be a member. Now getting images in the gallery, that is harder and I'd venture to say that the vast majority of "members" have not had an image accepted into the gallery (which can take weeks after submittal).

One further thing. Please please be selective with what you submit. Don't submit so-so shots. Submit only your best work and frankly the more dramatic, unusual or hard-to-get a shot is the better. And if you have 5 great photos of something, please do everyone a favor and pick just the best one to submit. It gets very tiresome sorting thru 15 variations of a single blue flower with a bee sitting on it.

Good Luck,

Mike

They really need to do something about it I dont get why they dont want to. They need to limit the number of active submissions a user can have, imo down to 3 or so shots. That would make the whole thing just so much better.

Yeah, I was just talking about membership. It's kind of discouraging after two attempts... But they do say that the third time's the charm.

As for submissions, I was thinking one or two a week, tops. I don't have that many good shots. Out of the 100-someodd "good" shots I've got, there's maybe about 10 I'd consider submitting.

You can always submit them here. I see you have no gallery photos posted. Let us see some of your work!

Hehe, granted, I do have yet to post in the gallery here. I have been somewhat active in the Post Your Photos section though. I also have most of my work on flickr (best viewed in a colour-managed browser). I'll try and put a couple images in the gallery tonight and, in the mean time, I've sent another message to the PPG staff using a different email in case that was the problem.
