I'm really sad to hear this.

I remember reading Bob's stories with great interest when he first posted his war photography stories on this forum. He seemed like a real gentleman, and enthusiastic about what he did.

My thoughts go out to his family.

That's a terrible news. Bob seemed such a kind and warm guy, having suffered so much of the trauma yet was still helping and thinking of others. That's a worse example of life's irony when one cannot see the fruit of one's hard work. I hope the other co-authors and his friends will continue this work - looking forward to get that book now more than ever !

Rest in peace Bob!

Although I only knew Bob from his correspondence here, the news made me quite sad, as I admired the man.

I hope this site can officially remember him in some way. The idea for a book was planted in this thread. Perhaps an annual Bob Hillerby prize for photography?

I also hope the site acts as a source of publicity to promote his book.

Dan.

I only knew Bob from postings on this forum but this news is really sad. Bob seemed to have been on a challenging personal journey and have come out the other side with so much more to give.

Perhaps the forum could collect from interested members and make a donation to his PTSD group on their behalf?

Is there any US-based member(s) that would be willing/able to coordinate receiving the contributions via paypal and then making the donation to the PTSD group?

Wow - very sad, Condolences from New Zealand too. He seemed to "get" the rivalry between the Aussies and the Kiwis.

I'm very sad to hear this. I'm not a vet but I have the greatest respect for those that are. The fact that he chose to share his experiences with others probably did more for his healing than anything else could have. As a fellow rider I know how quickly these things can happen. I've lost more than a couple of brothers these last few years. Prayers go out to his family and those grieving for him. May you ride the hills of heaven forever in peace.
