I like landscapes and architecture. However, especially when I am traveling, I find that night shots, cityscapes, etc., are becoming a specialty. I have even skewed my acquisitions in that direction - picked up a LX3 for the business trips I can not haul my K20 and lenses along on. Now, just "invested" in a much better tripod and panning ballhead, chosen especially for traveling.

I like lots, photographing the Tasmanian landscape would probably be top of the tree at the moment

I've found though that the more I shoot film the more interested I get in street photography.

I'm not asking "which genres do you like?"; I'm asking, "which is your favorite?"

My "Other" vote is for Travel Photography. I don't think that fits into the "Vacation" category, as that seems family-oriented. I like to try to capture the essence of a place, whether that's landscape, street, architecture, etc.

I voted for Landscapes... I quite enjoy wildlife photography, but I'm going to have to develop patience to ever get any good at it. I always want to walk right toward the animals, and they always leave...
What... ??

That is the crux of the matter Josh: patience, no necessarily equipment will often yield the greatest rewards. Gotta stop that predatory behavior... straight at 'em... no mercy...

Landscapes get me out in the woods, and they don't run away when I run toward them. I find I can walk an amazing distance just seeing what shot is over the next hill and around the next turn, only to find, eventually, a long dark walk back to the car... good times!
You definitely have some cool landscapes!

Cheers,
Marc

Geez, that's hard--I'm so eclectic. I guess my favorite is candid portraits of people--friends relatives and perfect strangers. It's a small proportion of my work though because I'm kind of shy about it.

Actually I like many genres: I've done portraiture, studio, PJ, events, travel, etc. I prefer artistic variants the most due to it's challenge. I just happen to do more wildlife because it gets me outside and it's peaceful. Of course, the return on time invested vs. results can be quite low...

Regards,
Marc

Definite "Pentax can't shoot Sports" bias in your poll... I had to pick "Other" since sports was not included, but it really depends. I have many favorite genres. When I want a rush I shoot sports. When I want to relax I shoot landscapes (in particular waterfalls). When I am feeling like a challenge I shoot fashion or figures. When I am feeling inquisitive I shoot flowers. When I am feeling desperate for money to buy the next lens I will shoot whatever someone wants me to (even a wedding if I am desperate enough).

I guess you could say my favorite genre is photography!!!

Portraits, especially of women, then low-light/night photography.

I'm also starting to get interested in architecture lately.

I had to pick other because right now I'm fanny deep into photographing motorcycle racing. Which will be coming to an end here in Colorado pretty soon. So can I come back and cast another vote in a few months when we have snow on the ground?
