Will, Have a look at the shot just above the cake. See her arm and his face. The ring exchange is similar where the background has a bright spot vs the shade they are in. That's tough to work with and he did well.

OK, Peter, I see what you're thinking of. I didn't look hard at the first shot you refer. But it doesn't strike me as a dramatic problem there; I guess I'm put off more by the tilting. :-)

As for the ring exchange, yeah, there's a bright spot in the back, but the couple themselves are not badly affected by that and this pic, like several of the others, could be improved with some judicious use of the brush in Lightroom.

I think the lighting in weddings is always problematic. That's part of the challenge and the fun.

But again, I agree, he did a good job in these shots and I expect the bride and groom will be happy.

this thread is awesome. I'm helping shoot a wedding this weekend (my first, no pressure because I'm just a backup, thank the Lord) but it really answered a ton of my questions.

Thanks to Wheatfield for the list of wedding pictures, I have a K10D set on fixed ISO and AF280T TTL flash set as non-TTL Auto upper mode (Green). The list helps.
