Tips on ebay K-7

Hi Guys, I've taken a good look on K-7 on ebay.
They cost substantially less than what we have to pay in canada ($1599CAD + Tax, thats $1800 just for body), whereas on ebay they give u not only lens but other goodies as well.

My question is...
1. what are the things i should take caution buying on ebay?
2. concern about fake lens and not oem grip or sth like that?
3. I am rather interested in the package from the first 2 links... please take a look!
4. should i just buy it local? i think my local support 1yr international warranty and 2 yr canada... but again. i couldnt justify the price.
5. how can they sell the new camera so much cheaper than what is at store?

Of the 4 links, I would go with #4. The seller in the first two links has 4 complaints this month alone. Seller in link 4 has a 99.9 feedback rating and only one complaint in the last 12 months.

No deal here. Just under full retail price for the body and lens (not even the new WR model), and the accessories are cheap crap.

Go with a reputable company that is authorized to sell in Canada for warranty protection. If you buy gray market gear and it breaks, you are out of luck outside of the region where the warranty is valid for.

I don't find #4 a 'stellar' deal. # 4 is $1770 and depending on where you live you will have to pay PST and of course GST.

The camera store in Calgary has :

$1,498.24 K7 Body
$251.46 Pentax Battery Grip
$96.56 LI-90 Batter

Total is $1846.26

Plus the 5% GST and NO PST as the store is Alberta based (not sure what out of provnce sales are like - I think you are ok).

Anyway you are saving a few dollars and you get a 2GB card (but they are so cheap nowadays) - remmeber the K7 battery grip will also take AA batteries.

But the bottom line adivice from others is solid. Reputable dealers only.

With the K-7 being new and all, some of them might have problems. I would definitely try buying one from an authorized dealer with warranty. Otherwise you might encounter problems and like someone said, you'd be out of luck, out of 1,500 dollars that is.

Plus sending it back and forth to a seller sucks moreso if after selling the item and you have already received it, the seller disappears!
Happened to me once with my K100D super.
Luckily, my K100D super never had issues.
The only thing was, when I was asking the seller about the warranty, he never replied anymore with emails or anything as I have already given my feedback and awknowledged that i already received the camera.

Another thing to know too is that if ever you file a claim to ebay or paypal, it would take forever to get your money back (..if ever you do!

Have a personal experience with this statment. After 35 days or so I gave up and filed a claim with my Visa - a week later I got my refund and Visa went after Pay Pal.

thanks for all the input! is the battery grip a good addition? i mean if i do get the grip i'd most likely use the AA's. It'd be heavy. but does it has the tripod mount still with the grip? sorry i am very new and i couldnt really find pics about the bottom of the grip to know.

I think that would have been better if the CC company would go after Paypal as from my experience, they favor more the seller than the buyer.
Even after you have filed the claim with paypal, they would give you the run around saying they would need to look over the claim.
They would rather you close the claim than give you the money so it takes them a long time to resolve it.
Even after you have returned the item to seller, they not only ask for tracking number but also a fax of the scanned shipping slip..but they would only ask for that after again 2 weeks after you submitted the tracking number..meaning they are really trying to delay the claim.
If there si no further document you can provide, they will close the claim in favor of the seller and therefore even after going to all the trouble, you won't get your money back!

It should still have the tripod grip.
The only thing I know that is different about this grip is you can't store the teeny-tiny remote control F anymore inside.

Go with ProDigital2000. They are selling K-7 bodies for around $1300, and they are a Canadian dealer.
