I don't suppose you were using a hood? That makes a difference too. Between that and the the possibility of condensation (which would likely affect shots for a few minutes then clear up all by itself) form the humidity, this all seems pretty normal to me.

shoot more than one shot

Find out how to use exposure compensation. It's built into most cameras. Take a shot. Look at the shot. If it's too bright, compensate and shoot again.

That said, the image shown does look properly exposed for difficult lighting conditions. Bad lighting make less than exciting photos.
