2001 we got a HP 2mg camera for about 200 dollars I think. Then in 2003 I got a Olympus C-750 UZ and stull use it from time to time. It's a great little camera. The HP still works to but the pictures are too small. lol

I started down the "digital" path with a Casio QV-10, if I recall correctly.

Sony F707, in 2001. It had some funky features like EVF, "night vision" mode, a red "laser focusing grid" that popped up when it got too dark for the AF system to work reliably, and a damned fine (fast, too!) Zeiss lens.

Had it for a couple of years and then sold it to a friend who was using it up until about a year ago when he passed away. Far as I know the camera still works...

Sony Mavica=IQ was craptastic recorded on floppy disc. Extremely convenient and cool at the time.

A Fuji FinePix 2650. I still have it and use it when all I want to carry is a P&S.

Mine was a Nikon Coolpix 5700 hybrid. It could take good pictures for the time but really sucked relative to what it cost. It can do videos though.

Ditto - in 1995.

I got the camera on a 7 day try-before-you-buy offer. It took 640x480 images and was interesting but ultimately had unsatisfactory performance. I returned the camera but was left with no doubt that digital was the way of the future.

My uncle used to own a Sony Mavica. Looking back, they were very strange pieces of kit. Floppy discs indeed! I can attest to the bad IQ.

A few years ago I occasionally used a Panasonic NV-DS28 camcorder. That could record still images on DV tape, but it was only a freeze-frame that lasted a couple of seconds. You had to grab the stills off imported DV footage...

Thankfully, image quality took a great leap after that.
My first digital still camera was a K10D (got in 2007.)
It's my only one, and with any luck, will still be for a good few more years.

Whopping 1.3MP. Came with 4 MB CF card! I remember upgrading to a 16MB and then up to 32! WOW, I could store quite a few pics on a card. Oddly enough, as long as I print at 5x7 or less, the pics are pretty good.

I went and spent allmost $800 on the Sony Mavica that used CD's when it first came out . Had a Ziess lens and pretty decent IQ for that era. Now you can buy them on Ebay for $10. My kid still uses it.

My Nikon may be 8 years old but at least it is still usable as a point & shoot.

A Kodak Easy Share 6 mp deal. Still use it. And I get decent shots with it. The wife uses it for shots of G4 since she hasn't a clue how to use any of my other cameras.
