Used K-x body clunk, gross fungus stuff?

Got my K-x today..

It arrived with this nasty, fungal looking thing from the mid-seventies stuck on the front of it =-\

The site describes Demo condition as 'Like new, Little or No signs of use.'

Because of the crud/fungus/whatever that was on the cap being inside the body.. I don't think the item shows little or no signs of use.

Am I out of line on this one, or do you guys agree? I didn't expect brand new, but it certainly exhibits signs of use.

Thanks,
Blake

The clunk is normal, it is the sound from the sensor moving around in the SR mechanism.

Probably the seller kept the new body cap and stuck a molded one from an old camera on yours. I had it happen to a lens that I bought too. A stupid practice, it's certainly not like new!

Wow, that body cap looks really nasty. I would call the exterminator now… That's certainly not, what I would expect as "little or no signs of use" from a reputable company, such as Adorama is.

The rattling noise you hear could (but that assumes, that the camera is fine) be the sensor, which is mounted somewhat loosely, because it needs to shift around for the Shake Reduction to work. That would be normal. If you do a search in this and other forums about the rattle, you find quite a few fearful posts about that noise, mostly from firsttime users with a brand new Pentax.

The strap, registration card, and batteries are absent as well.
I guess I had more in mind 'opened it up to check it out' condition, instead of 'plundered it' condition.

That is disgusting!!

Can you email me (helen.oster@adoramacamera.com) with your order number?
Whoever let that out as 'demo quality' needs stringing up and shooting!

Helen was extremely gracious in handling the issue. As a bonus, nobody was strung up or shot!

Thank you, Helen!

But if there were a stringing up, there might not be a next time.

What did it leave inside?

I saw the cap and thought your were talking about a Film K-X. I'd be more concerned about what that cap left in the body and I'd definitely be . Hopefully they can get it straight for you..

Helen, tell your lawyer that we're ready to testify in support of the 'justifiable homicide' defense.
