Whats up with the Pentax Photo Gallery?

I submitted a photo a month ago and its still awaiting review. All the photos I've submitted in the past have either been accepted or denied within a week

Pentax cameras have been selling very well lately, maybe there's a whole lot more submissions as a result

Do you vote for photos? How fast photos are reviewed depends on the time they receive a certain number of (negative or positive) votes. The more people vote, the faster the process.

today i got my second picture accepted. -> took 4 weeks.
my first - 1 month ago - also 4 weeks

It seems that photos get put into queue rather randomly at times. When I have time I actually enjoy sitting down for what I call a marathon voting session - about 20 to 30 minutes looking carefully at each photo. I think it's made me a better photographer - when I'm composing an image I sometimes think to myself, "wait a minute, I saw something like this and though it would look better if I did X". It also seems the more I participate the faster things move along.

matiki, I'm a bit confused. How do you submit and/or vote on PPG? I go to the site and there is nothing that allows me to sign in, submit an image, explanation of the site or comment etc other than the "contact us" drop-down. I've filled in the "guest book" and sent in comments but have not heard back. I don't hold out high hopes of getting something accepted, but I'd like to take a shot

Hi Brian,

Just fill out the "contact us" with a request to be able to submit photos.

I believe my request was something along the lines of:

"Hello, I'm very interested in submitting photos for consideration. Could you let me know how to get started. Thanks! - Matt."

They got back to me with an artist code in about two days. I have heard from others that they waited quite some time before trying a second or even third time. Perhaps I got lucky.

I didn't have to wait long, took all of one business day.

Took them a week to reply to me (so long I submitted again, received both responses the same day...must be one person manually replying to everything when they get a chance).

Edit: how long before I can actually do some voting?

when you sign in, you can vote. There will be a tab for voting on photos.

At least they are limiting the number of photos that can be uploaded per week. It used to be that someone would go out, shoot 20 photos of sea gulls and then up load ever single one of them. Seems to me like there are a lot more good photos than bad photos any more when voting.
