At first I thought you guys were talking about the Mamiya C3 and then I realized you were talking about the "Brick." BrownBag

I had some automatic Ricoh piece of junk film camera I used for a little while, but my first camera I could really call my own was a Nikon 3200. Of course it's obsolete now, but I was pretty damn excited when I bought it. The noise was absolutely terrible.

First Camera was a Kodak Instamatic in 1972.

First SLR was my Pentax KX in 1975. I just finished another roll of film with it today, still going strong after 35 years.

My dad had an Argus C3, with the custom-fitted leather case. He still has it somewhere around the house. Lots of Kodachrome and Ektachrome went through that one. I still remember squinting into the sun as dad counted to when he would take the picture!

I was able to find a picture of my Argus C3 my first camera and a Petri 7s that I purchased a few years later, It was taken with my Yashica Mat 124. As I mentioned in an earlier post I bought the C3 when I was in the Airforce. Both cameras served me well. Added another picture from the Argus C3 of My wife and I in 1963, gosh that was long ago. The pictures are not of the same quality of today's equipment but they did capture the moment.

Know I'm late to the game, but wanted to join in the fun that everyone seemed to have a few months back...

While I had a few random 110 and 35mm cameras I used as a kid, I wouldn't really describe any of them as "mine." My first personal experience with an SLR was a K1000 in my high school photography class. Sure, the K1000 was almost 20 years old by then, but they were solid pieces of machinery and I loved mine. I was so sad when I had to turn it back in, so I eventually pestered my parents until they got me a Pentax P30t. It wasn't top of the line or state of the art, but it was certainly a step up from the K1000, and I loved it. It took me years to finally give it up - finally for a K100D and then a K10D, which I'm still using. I've been wanting to upgrade the K100D, but have been busy spending money on other things...

I still have the P30t around. I feel bad that I don't take it out anymore (I feel like it's my unloved stepchild or something), but it's such a hassle now to get film developed.

My first camera was a Polaroid Swinger I got for Christmas in 1968 or 1969. I wish I still had that camera. I do have a photo album with some of the pics I took using the Swinger. I should scan some of the better pics for posterity.

Exactly what took me through my first cassettes of film, if I remember correctly.

Later I got a Russian Zorki 3 (Leica III clone), which was very nice, but at that time, I couldn't appreciate the rangefinder and so got a GDR made Praktina FX (inherited from my Great Grandfather), the "Nikon F-Killer" wannabee.

My first self-financed camera was a Yashica FR-1, which I complemented with the FR (great cameras - the poor man's Contax RTS). I sold the whole Yashica kit, when the Pentax LX was released and got the LX with the M 50/1.4. That was my entry into Pentax world somewhere in 1981.

I'm sure it was a Brownie but it was certainly earlier than the Flash 20.

First was a Sony Cybershot M (loved, actually still love this camera), but I gave it to my cousin.

My first DSLR however was purchased about 4 months ago and it's a Kx (love that more than the Sony).

My first proper camera was a Panasonic FZ-30 that i got for my 21st, i got it for its long reach because at the time i wanted a camera for surf photography.

Good some good use out of it, but it was fairly noisy at anything above ISO80, so 2 years later i bought a 2nd hand K10D and the DA 55-300.

My brother had a Corvair, it was about that color, too. Boy, that brings back memories.

I am younger than most of the posters on this forum/thread and was not really interested in taking pictures until the digital era came about. Then I did a little bit of research and convinced my parents to fund the purchase of a Canon Powershot S20. I thought it was so cool that we wouldn't have to pay for or load film, and could see pictures instantly without having to wait for processing.

I think that was about 2000 or 2001. Then I went off to college and didn't take many pictures until I bought a Canon Powershot A95 in about 2004.

Used that until something started going wrong with the sensor in 2009-ish. Then my wife had my beautiful daughter (my avatar) in June 2009 so my parents subsidized the purchase of the K200D after seeing some pics of said daughter from my sister-in-law's K10D.

Some sort of second or third-hand 110 camera was what I used when I was quite young. I think it was the Pocket Instamatic 30, and I used to borrow it, so I can't count it as my first camera.

My first camera was a Kodak Disk 4000 in the mid-80s. I remember being so excited because it was silver colored, not black.

Thanks for this thread, it reminded me I have an unfinished film (or should I say cartridge?) in there, and looking it up on the internet there are a few places that still develop it. No clue what's in there, or if the film itself is too old. Now I just have to find where it is. It's so small it could be anywhere!

When I was 9 (or something like that) my parents found a Canon EOS 888 in the park.
They tried to find the owners but they weren't found.

They put it in the closet for 2-3 years, and then I took it.
It was my first SLR camera, and my brother still uses it sometime.
