Is there anything that gets you energized to go out and want to take lots of photos?

Other than a mood, maybe? I find that when it's a nice and sunny day or when things might be going a little bit better that I just want to get out and take a lot of photos.

Some songs will also get me in the mood to take a lot of photos.

[EDIT - whoops, sorry it didn't combine my posts]

Seeing other people's works (that are great). Especially if I see a technique I'd like to try out and/or those works give me new ideas about shots.

It's interesting you mention music, because music often makes me want to go out and shoot video. While video (movies, etc.) will often make me want to go out and shoot still :-)

Color color color!! If I see some crazy color I just feel compelled to take my camera out and snap some photos.

I'm also motivated by friends and family. There's tremendous satisfaction to me when they love the photos (I often print them out).

When I go out for walks I always shoot plenty of pictures. But I suppose its the walk that gets my bum of the couch, not the prospect of a specific shot.

Do photographic challenges with a club or mates, that's fun since there is that bit of competition of who can get the most interesting pic out of what everyone sees.

After a long dark dreary winter, a nice spring day gets me out. Things are turning green, flowers are starting to bloom, the birds are coming back. Baseball season, kayaks, fishing. Need more?

Yeah, when I see some great photos of my subjects I want to go out too. I didn't even think about that one before actually.

Whenever I read about a technique or a see a style of photograph I'd like to replicate/adapt to my own style then I'm usually out the door or setting some half-baked home studio in no time.

I take photos to relax and when I relax I take good photos. So I find the best thing is to unwind by just snapping around for the first while. And then later one gets into a groove and the quality improves.

An event. A gathering of people. Something momentous. Something historical.

And cats.

Sun. Living in Seattle a sunny day is an event - the chance to shoot photos with actual golden, directional light is inspiring

I love that too! Especially in San Francisco when the light on the Bay Bridge somehow makes it have kind of a brownish hue (but it's like a gold brown, so it looks beautiful) and the buildings of downtown have it.
