Adam....Would this new shop consider being a forum sponsor?...I'm sure that if they looked at the site they'd have to be impressed.
Cheers, Pickles.

I vote for the first Canadian store in Calgary - although I realize Toronto would be the first most logical choice.

?

Does anyone think that Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops would be a good place to market Pentax cameras?

Is this shop somehow related to wallyb a pentax member on this board who always sell stuff in the market place?
Not that I have any problem with it, just wondering.

Hot dog! That makes me really happy. Now if only they'd open one up in Portland. Heck, if it was substantial enough, I might even take the time to make a pilgrimage to Seattle if they opened one up there.

I was in a local shop here near Saint Louis called Creve Coeur Camera to buy my father a fathers day gift Thursday before last ( got him a 35-70 Nikon lens for his three Nikon film cameras ) , they have several stores in the area, maybe 5 or 6. I was happy to see a LOT of new and used Pentax gear on their shelves. Not just the cheap stuff either, they had DA*200, 300, the DA 55-300, DA*16-50, and 50-135....lots of bodies, even had a NEW Film body, old stock obviously, kinda cool!!

Will they have the colored bodies? I'm still waiting for the pink one.

When I passed by they had a lot of the colored bodies on display. I think i saw orange, not pink, but I didn't have enough time to look.

BUT I am going to need a way to use my 31 and 77 Limiteds on a GREAT PENTAX FULL FRAME camera soon (within 9-12 months)
...or what, exactly? If FF is that important, there's tons of Pentax film SLRs on eBay.

I am really excited about this. I wonder if it means places like Penn and Ritz will start stocking Pentax again.

Open one in Tennessee!!

I want to try a K-7 before I buy or the next camera. There is nowhere around Knoxville to try a Pentax. I'm glad to hear about the store! Hope it's the first of many!

Could some Pentax users in NY post some photos of the interior and exterior so that tourists not from NY and for the benefit of everyone else, know how the place looks like?

Why do they need a "boutique"???

Just put a decent selection of cameras and lenses back in regular local stores already.

Heck, send some promotional stuff even. Mo, at Ace Photo in Ashburn, VA tells me Pentax won't even give him a simple "PENTAX" banner for his window, even though he is the only physical store in the DC area that still carries Pentax.

they need it because they want the pieces in place to give pro level support for the 645D being availible outside of japan - thats my guess anyway

By all accounts, all this new "boutique shop" is is a counter at the front of the store. When I read the phrase "Pentax shop" I think of something akin to the Apple Store... not just a counter shared with Leica that MAYBE has a dedicated salesman.

Don't get me wrong... I think any presence in a B&M store is great and hopefully is a sign that intelligence and consumer understanding has finally prevailed at Pentax marketing, but blowing it up and trying to glamourize it by calling it a boutique is disingenuous.

Just get gear back in the stores where people can touch and feel it... make them worth the stores carrying them andconvince the salesmen that they are every bit as good and often much better than any similarly priced competitor.
