I was going over some of my K10D photos I took last year. I am still impressed with it, and I can still take better shots with it than my K-x under 800 ISO!
@Rite, I agree with you partially on my K10D, still solid good IQ. However, since I got my k-7, I do find the overall IQ and color rendition better in the k-7 (many of my friends commented on that). Besides, AF is definitely better in k-7 than the k10D.

The K-7 I'm sure is an excellent camera. The K-x I have is plenty for me right now (excluding the HD 1080P video, of course).

The HD video would be the only reason I would even consider the K-5. Not enough to move me from the K-x to the K-R.

K-r questions

I have a couple of questions about the K-r that I don't think have been talked about.

The specs say it doesn't have back/front focus correction but does have lens correction. Isn't that basically the same thing? I read it has only an overall adjustment but it's better than having to go into the debug mode like on my K100.

Also, it says the focusing screen in not exchangeable. It also says this for the K-x but Katzeye sells them for it. Any ideas about this?

Thanks!

Not sure about the other points, but I know this one since I had a K-x. Basically, the focusing screen is interchangeable - but it's not as easy to change as on K-7 or K10D/K20D as it is not designed to be user-interchangeable. There is a manual on Katzeye site, you can learn how to change the screen there.

Thanks pbo, that's what I figured. I changed the screen on my K100D and I don't think it's listed as changeable either.

Lens correction is for correcting CA and distortion not focusing issues. The Kx and Kr definitely do not have front/back focusing correction.

**The lens correction option will only work with newer Pentax brand lenses.

That makes sense. I do remember reading about that at some point.
There are discussions here that claim the K-r has a single focusing adjustment. I guess we'll have to wait to find out for sure.

Any one with sample images from the k-r? With all the hoopla surrounding the k5, the k-r seems lost in the shuffle...

=======================================

The K-r is not that big of an improvement over the K-x. Plus, the K-x will be a great buy in the next three months as compared to price/performance benefits of the K-r.

And k-5 is completely different camera compared to k-7...

No, wait, they look prety much the same :S

I am waiting for k-r, i think the jump from k-x to k-r is equal to the jump from k-7 to k-5.
