I prefer the original black, the silver is too flashy!

Another round of 1500 pieces.
I love the silver version, but at the price the black K-5 is now, silver is nothing but a dream...

Why don't they make silver a standard choise? It will prove very popular and may boost sales after all. Only standardize the price as well, I can't justify such a difference to my wallet...

Is this silver addition the same as the last silver addition? seems to me that I remember the last one had other features different than the black K-5, not much but I seem to remember them saying it was beefier. Different grip, and stranger glass on the LCD and maybe some other smaller changes.
If I read this post right, this silver addition is just a black painted silver without any other changes.
I just bought a black K-5 last week so it's too late for me, I tried to find a silver one but couldn't find one new and anybody that wanted to sell a used one wanted way more than it cost new, over $2,000 for just the body.

This is BS... how can you release a "Limited" edition body twice? I will never pay extra for a "limited" body again... maybe

Perhaps it's 1500 for Hoya and now 1500 for Ricoh... fair enough

The new "limited" silver edition looks different. The K-5 Limited Silver released last year had a different (chunkier/better) grip, a reinforced glass LCD screen and the SR symbol was also silver.

The new K-5 Limited Silver appears to have the standard grip and standard red SR symbol. So you would also doubt it has the reinforced LCD. The grip was worth a few extra bucks.

I read somewhere that the 40 XS is compatible with the digital bodies, but not the film bodies, that have a much larger mirror.

Kennod hits it on the head...there are a few actual differences. This is K-5 silver, Version 2 as listed in the timeline post...Perhaps the shorter/normal K-5 grip positions the fingertips closer to the focus ring on this "flatter than a pancake" lens. The focus ring will actually be recessed below the grip on the version one silver K-5 Limited.
