You guys need editors

Photographers who purchase a 645D camera body will receive a free D-FA 55mm lens and a $500 PENTAX VISA® PREPAID CARD on the purchase of the D-FA 25mm and HD 90mm lens when purchased at the same time as the body, for a total savings of up to $1,000. Additionally, consumers who purchase the K-5IIs camera body will receive a $250 PENTAX VISA® PREPAID CARD on the purchase of FA 31mm, 43mm and 77mm Limited series lenses when purchased at the same time as the body for a combined savings of up to $750.
I don't really like mail-in rebates though. Pain in the butt. And reading the section for the k-5IIs, I'm not sure if that means you can get $750 by buying the 3 lenses to get the pre-paid card 3 times, or if buying one lens with the body nets savings + the $250 card.

Hmm, I can't seem to find the rebate on their Special Offers page. Working for anyone else?

So, what are the implications here?

Rebates are often used as a last push to move soon-to-be discontinued product.

Well, the k-5II is out now and getting good reviews - thus, bundling FA Ltd lenses with it must be to sell the FA Ltd lenses. Especially since the rebate is only for the FA Ltd lenses. By the powers of Greyskul-I mean, assumption, I think the FA Ltds are being replaced soon~

Since full-frame is coming (relatively) soon, they probably want to put out a few new FF lenses instead of continuing production of old design. I'm guessing they'll be marked as D-FA models.

Pentax is offering $250 rebates on FA ltds when bought with K-5IIs

So that's kinda odd. All the FA limiteds, 31mm, 43mm, 77mm qualify for a $250 rebate if purchased with the K-5IIs. Odd that they are discounting only the FF lenses with this. I wonder if that means anything?

Pentax Special Offers

Also there are rebates on 645D lenses when bought with the body.

So Pentax is encouraging people to buy FF compatible lenses with their best current APS-C camera... Kinda odd.

I can buy that....
Or the more cynical way to look at it is that the K-5II isn't really selling well (despite the good reviews) and this gives people a nice incentive to buy one.

Makes sense - if they are planning on introducing a FF for enthusiasts and pro's to upgrade to - as those are the people who would upgrade to FF, and who would buy the best current APS-C camera.

Pfffft, cynics! If it was to sell the k-5IIs, why bundle it with expensive lenses! Even with the rebate, those are some expensive lenses that the normal people wouldn't really consider getting.

If I were to try to sell the k-5IIs fast, I would bundle it with the 18-135/18-55WR and give a nice $200 rebate. That would sell the k-5IIs much faster than this bundle.
