So none of these three will be available any time soon for testing?

If I were to guess, the 16-85 will be available next year, and the 70-200 and long telezoom will have announcements next year and ready by early 2016.

Looks like Pentax is stating that the 16-85 is intended to be an upgrade from the kit.

A lens that large, and as expensive as it is going to be, is not a kit lens.

When we look at what is happening at Photokina, namely Ricoh-Pentax, are we to "expect" new lenses sometime soon or is this some sort of a tease ?
So I would assume that all that is shown here for the "new" zoom lenses are in fact prototypes?

"According to our recent interview with Ricoh, this lens is meant for users who aren't satisfied with the standard 18-55mm kit lens. It offers silent autofocus, a wider and longer zoom range, and improved build and image quality."

I'm only going by what the article mentioned. I didn't say it's a kit lens.

For reference:

Photokina 2012 - DA 560mm F5.6 was announced. It was not available for touching or testing.
DA 560mm F5.6 was release in February of 2013.

Trying to find more announcements vs releases.

The 16-85mm will come out in Winter, 2014 according to the press release.

The reference exhibition was at CP+ 2012, where the lens was sealed off. At photokina, however, a few lucky individuals got to use it. They were showing it off with the Q10 on press day.

But for the last 2 days people have been saying this only makes sense if it's a replacement for the kit lens. You just had to take one look at the name to know it was not a kit lens replacement but an upgrade.

Oh wow, so that's a pretty fast release schedule for the 16-85 then? If so, the other two may be even available end of next year!

Just waiting to see the price on the 16-85.. Canon's version is $800 MSRP, while Nikon's is $789 MSRP (discount to $629). If this lens is in that range, that sucks (well sorta). If it's cheaper it'll be amazing.

I guess that's up to Ricoh Imaging USA to decide. But it would make sense to price it competitively with the Sigma 17-70mm, above the Pentax 18-135mm, and below the Pentax 18-270mm superzoom, so I would bet on somewhere in the $599-699 range.
