Good, fair review.

Are we sure the K-50 has a rear IR remote sensor? My K-30 certainly does not. In fact, IR remote works on exactly the same angles for my K-S1 and K-30 - everywhere but directly to the rear and left/rear (because the lens blocks the sensor).

I always thought the rear IR sensor was one of the things the top-end metal bodies had that the plastic entry/mid-range bodies did not. It seems like an odd thing to add to the K-50 when it is so similar to the K-30.

What was it... fainting with damn praise?
- even mentioning the clowns at The Camera Store has no place in a serious review (and it gives an unnecessary negative note to it)
- subjective notes about K-S1 "failing"... hmm...
- too many comparisons with a camera way out of its league (K-3)
- yet none with same class models from the competition
Otherwise, nice job - thanks for your hard work

The K-s1 has a complex personality, with traits that endear or infuriate. Most reviews (not just PKForums) say "while this can be seen as (+), however (-)" while ePhotoZine went with "despite (-) this camera does (+)". Handling is "different" instead of "awful", no WR is a "pity" not a crime, &c &c.. Overall that just feels better - a kinder, gentler review. Yes I've heard John Riley is an unapologetic K-mount fan; between him and Dave at IR we have a grand total of two against the many Thoms and Kens of the world

Most of the 'down' sides of the K-s1 are quite personal and subjective - e.g. the review here really dislikes the live-view button placement while a lefty like me finds it very natural in the upper left corner. I wish it had a more typical Pentax feature set, but the K-s2 went further than I would choose - so I went with the leaner camera (and much lower price). The features are quite nice, and I like the 20Mpx results; the other things I'm willing to try to get used to. Personally I found the K-50 a poor fit for reasons I'm still not sure of, so I'm not a typical target it seems

I appreciate the effort and detail in the review here, and the facts presented are enough for me to be willing to give it a go. Who knows, in four months I may despise its interface too!
