Pentax Full Frame

In my opinion, the name of the new full frame camera should be K1000D-FF. K1000 in honor of the camera
that started Pentax on their way, D for digital and of course FF for full frame, just saying-------

does it not occur to anyone... that if it is called the K-1, pentax can only make a K-2 before they run into the K-3? Or i guess they could do K-1, K-1 ii, K-1 iii, K-1 iv, K-1 v K-1 vi K-2, K-4, K-6, K-8, K-9, K-10...

It certainly has occurred to quite a few people here. Search for threads and posts on the subject, and you'll find more than one or two comments and suggestions. I proposed (not seriously, mind) that the "-" in the current naming practice was a minus sign, not a dash, and they could extend the current series to plus signs "+". It might amuse us to ponder, but Ricoh/Pentax will make up their own minds about it.

I'm still wondering why a Pentax has a K at all... Asahi Pentax... where did the K come from?

My guess:
Asahi Optical Co., Ltd. (旭光学工業株式会社 Asahi Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushiki-gaisha
Lots of Ks in their company name.

I think it is K for KING from the original collaboration with Cosina and some German company.

I think they should just call the new full-frame Fred. Or Mary. Or Kaida, or something else Japanesey.

Just like IKEA, where every lamp, place mat or cushion in store has a 'personal' name.

Still is just a stills camera...

Even the name can become a conversation piece.
