Fancy that, Hipsterdom is single handedly raising film products back to financial viability...

I think EFC and electronic shutters in general need a specific kind of senor architecture to work properly, it isn't something that can be casually tossed in on a firmware update.. In the next iteration of the Pentax digital 645 system we may even get a global shutter.

Indeed, Fuji have a few lenses that may indeed be smaller and lighter than the pentax equivalents, but the same issues with vignetting*, poor resolution in the corners will be apparent**. Focus accuracy is particularly important with MFD, I know fuji cameras were having difficulty with the 56mm f/1.2 - MF lenses f/2.8 and faster will have wide open DOF are roughly equivalent to sub f/1.8 apertures on 35mm, will CDAF be able to keep up accurately and quickly? I have my doubts.
* This is liable to be a huge issue as lenses with short back focus designs are particularly susceptible to it, due to the proximity of the exit pupil to the sensor.
** don't get me wrong Fuji has made some stellar lenses for panoramic cameras ( X-pan, GX680) but is that design expertise from the past really going to follow?
