Pentax K-3 III APS-C Flagship: Name & Specs Revealed

Full specifications for the Pentax K-3 III APS-C flagship have been officially unveiled. The camera will be launched in February 2021.

Since we don't know the price yet, if it comes in at the $1,000 range I will likely buy one and then have it almost permanently attached to a telescope.

I'm not in the market for a new camera at the speculated price point, but I am curious to see if the price of a used K3 II will drop...

Better go look at the Pentax video with Takahashi San making the announcement, I'm afraid that you are off by about one thousand dollars.

That puts it above K1ii pricing. Wouldn't that make it the most expensive APSC camera on the market?

however not one I will buy

satisfied with what I have got

Now, but the D500 was $2000 when it launched. By the time the K-3 III is released the D500 will be nearly 5 years old...

No, but you can see that there are two choices for upgrading in Pentax from an older K-3. It's the K-3 III or K-1 full frame. Both are plausible, the advantage to Ricoh of someone going to the K-1 is the opportunity to sell them different lenses down the line.

Personally, if I can get it past the wife, I'll jump on it.

I see the Mark III as a bold move, wrapping up the latest tech in a 'traditional' package. A subtle jab at the mirrorless revolution.

Pentax officialy stated it will be >200,000¥ in Japan, which would be above $1,500:

What was said in the translation is "We expect" and that was almost five months ago. There is still not definite announced price.
