Butterflies are emerging...
Lens: Sigma apo Camera: K-M Photo Location: NE TN

Plenty of new butterflies emerging here in East Tennessee lately. Here are a few...

Great Spangled Fritillary:

Little Wood Satyr:

Eastern Comma:

And some species of Skipper (I always have trouble with skipper ID):

Thanks for any comments & critique!

PS - for some reason the name of the lens did not come through properly - it's the Sigma APO "Macro" 70-300mm.

The first shot is lovely! Smooth bokeh + complementary colors = win

Stunning captures mole.
Particularly #1 - the smooth bokeh, pretty butterfly and its bold colours complementing the blues and greens make it a stunning image.
Well done.

Adam - Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun chasing this butterfly around the forest edge, so glad he paused at just the right spot.

Aj - I have only had this Sigma for about a month - purchased it used (from KEH) specifically for photos in the semi-macro range - to get close to skittish bugs like butterflies. It has great color and fine sharpness (stopped down a bit) in this close-up range. But it is a bit soft at 300mm for distant shots. I use an old A* 300 (purchased here at the Marketplace) for those kinds of photos. Depending on what you plan to photograph, and how far away, you might be happy with the Sigma. It certainly is much less expensive than many others...

Ash - Thank you for your very kind and specific comments!

Wildman - Thank you so much!

JLou - Indeed these little bugs are an amazing part of creation! Glad you enjoyed the photos...
