Flow of Rock
Lens: Pentax DA 18-250 Camera: K10D Photo Location: Zion National Park ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/2s Aperture: F11

This picture is a year or so old, but remains one of my favorites. It's probably because I had to take it without a tripod and after being off the beaten trail for some time - which led to an unhappy spouse.

While the focus was pretty good for handheld and captured the water movement well, I spent quite a bit of time lightening up the top area to bring out the moss and get rid of the dark shadow under the rock. What else could I do with this picture?

Nice!

Did you give it a red hue on purpose? I quite like the natural colours too.
Do you have photoshop? Hit Auto tone and auto colours and see what you think. Also, it can be sharpened a little more PP.

The red hue is mostly natural. I manipulated vibrance a bit, but not much.

I have LightRoom and used that auto tone in there, but it left it too dark (almost black) under the rock. Because of that, I moved the exposure until I could see the moss under the rock. I wanted the green because otherwise I thought the picture was too red.

Ah. Thats weird how the two products give different results. In Photoshop, autotone and autocolor balances the red and green, and actually brightens the picture a tad. Oh well. I think its a great picture anyway, and the slight reddish hue is artistic
