A candid photograph of my wife and son taken while they played.

Converted to black and white using C2G in GIMP.

I'm no professional, but my 2 cents...

This is a great candid shot. The action in the scene is good, the composition is good. You seem to have caught just the right second here

I like the B&W conversion too. Is the grain something you added?

Honestly, I like all of it. Especially for a candid shot, it's wonderful.

The grain was added when I performed the B&W conversion with C2G.

I like it, too, and you did a great job with the grain effect (which I've seen overdone).

Thanks Ari. I was pleased with the way the grain effect came out. Although it has made the image quite soft (which I think works in this context). I am just starting to find my interest in photography again after not taking any pictures for about a year. The bug is coming back though, no doubt this will be followed by some GAS. But at the minute I am happy enough with my dl2 and manual 1.7 50mm.

I also think that compressing it for upload here has created a softer image, this is the image from my flickr account which I am convinced is sharper, although my eyes aren't great at this sort of thing.
