Half Dome from the John Muir trail
Lens: sigma 10-20mm Camera: k-7 Photo Location: yosemite NP ISO: 200

f/7.1 1/200s

Taken on my way back from a great hike to Cloud's rest.

I'm not sure which of the two I like better. There's some lens glare in the first one (the original had significant glare... this is a crop). I like the perspective on the second one, but somehow, at times, the inclusion of the trail at the bottom seems to take something away from the pic. Any C&C welcome.

f/7.1 1/160s

Thanks!

I like the second better. Too much sky in the first one makes the ground get squished into the bottom 1/3. The top of the sky is not that impressive, and the grand Half Dome barely is recognizable. I'd crop it just above the cloud at left to make it a double-wide panoramic.

I like the second one better.

And I agree with SpecialK about the sky - there's too much. Plus the converging lines of the trees seem to lead your eyes up, but there's no feature there to stop them.

The trail in the bottom seems to add a bit of balance too, I'd leave at least some of it in if you're going to crop anything down there.

#2 again for me.
No need for all the 'empty' space - the sky doesn't add much in the way of drama or interesting subject matter to focus on. But as mentioned the dirt track is incomplete and as a result not particularly useful foreground matter to include in the scene - either include a continuous path for completion or have it cropped out.
