first moon shot with DAL 55-300mm (im surprised!)
Lens: dal 55-300mm Camera: k-x ISO: 200

pretty happy with the result... tried a couple of shots with a 2x tc but wasnt happy with them
than i tried with the 55-300mm only and a lot of cropping and some pp and got this one

That's really good! I've also gotten better shots without the TC than with it, although with a different lens (FA 300mm).

There is a strange glow along the edge on the moon in this photo- is it due to PP?

That's it! I can't stand it anymore! I am getting a DA 55-300! I keep seeing great images with this lens and I feel as if I am missing out on so many great opportunities!

Great shot suzuki-j! I really like the detail, nice crop work too!

thanks guys!
maybe i pushed the pp a little too much = glow
an d i think its close to 1:1 crop
the perception2008 : i would get the DA instead of DAL heard it was slightly better and comes with hood... DAL is still a great under-rated lens

I did some shooting of the moon tonight myself with my DA 55-300mm and they aren't nearly as interesting. It is a little hazy tonight and the moon is full, so there are no interesting shadows. They came out a little flat. But I am still impressed by this lens. Noce shot.

How long do you open up for a shot like this? I would like to give this a go when I get my 55-300

1/125 sec at f8 on ISO 200 works for me but that could easily be 1/30 sec at f16, or 1/30 sec at f11 and ISO 100.

Great shot with great sharpness, very impressive work.
But I'm not really surprised by the performance of the 55-300. It's a great lens.

I've tried with my 55-300 but nothing near this good.
I've gotten great sharp images with the lens in daylight, but the moon is always a wash.
As is often said, it isn't just the equipment that makes a photo.
Well done.
