Four portraits
Lens: smc PENTAX DA Star 50-135mm F2.8 Camera: Pentax K20D ISO: 100

Four portraits I took recently that I'm kinda iffy on. Looking for a bit of advice.

#4 is "cute"
#1 is not a keeper
#3 is cropped far too tight, if it was cropped PP then I'd suggesting cropping wider
#2 is the one with potential, but is currently is far too under exposed. Bring up the exposure, and/or shadows slider and/or dodge the face so it's visible.

1- no, there's really not a lot to hold on to here, his teeth are sharp, but that's about it

2- it's nicely lit, but there's no context to the picture, and it's underexposed and cropped to close to his chin

3- not enough to see, and no real 'detail' to sell the picture

4- I really like this, but I think it would better with some colour toning, and if you could see her full eye- rule of thirds composition would help you here too

I like the last one the most, but her chipped up nail polish is distracting to me. Take her for a manicure and shoot it again!

This is just me... I really like the "dark" shots with the deep shadow... I think you took it too far in #2... Bring out the light a little more to add some detail on the left side of the subject if it doesn't "blow out" the right side and I'd love it.

Oh, the chipped nail polish... Wasn't that "who" you were shooting? IMO, one isn't usually shooting a model. One usually shoots what we see around us and the people we live with... I can say that the 200 plus women I work with and the two I live with rarely have perfect polish...

None really do it for me, sorry.

A portrait is usually thought of as a bit of a stylized or controlled shot of a person. These seem to be more snapshot types or candids - except perhaps #2, which is a bit too dark for me.
