This is one of few first shots ever with a DSLR.
Had only one lens M 50mm f 2.0 that was bought at a local market.
Can't remember how much I paid for it but it was cheap

I think this one was shot wide open but I'm not sure.

I remembered I was so happy to have a dslr camera and this lens

I should have stick with this one lens instead of looking at lenses review and the forum market

How about a tighter crop?

I see your point, and while there is no substitute for a good shot with nice color and sharpness right from the camera, a shot like this is easily cleared up with a little processing. I tried it with Focal Blade and then again with Focus Magic....it sharpened up nicely, and still retained good detail.
Not to say we don't need great lenses....we need all the lenses we can get! I try to tell myself often, I am just that next lens away from being a great photographer! Unfortunately, Mrs Rupert sees it a little differently..........LOL!
