Robin
Lens: Kiron 105 2.8 Macro Camera: K20D Photo Location: Texas ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/45s Aperture: F11

Robin...the name voted for on my Flickr site for this shop spider that is a long time resident of my workshop. Unlike most spiders that catch their own food, I feed Robin regularly...every few days. This morning Robin had a delicious moth.

Here I used the 540 Flash, as I normally do with Macro shots, and although it required some PP, I can generally get pretty sharp shots hand held, where flash stops the blur....and focus is the main concern. If you take several, focus will usually be pretty good on a few. I've never trained a spider before, but if they are anything like Squirrels, Robin will be posing on command very soon!
Regards!

Ahhh! You caught that! It was a fast and sloppy job, I admit. I will do better next time. Thanks for your keen observation! I am currently looking for a brightly colored spider, but haven't had much luck. There are plenty of those Black ones with the Red hourglass, but I do try to avoid irritating them with a bright flash!
Regards!
