Very nice shots, well focused, sharp. Natural-theatrical-playful expressions and impressive big hands. Like them both; thanks for sharing.

I wonder how the color shot would look like if processed like the b/w one. Interesting work - made me think...

I feel in the Black & White shot, the background is blown out.

It is, but that was a conscious decision.

and it's perfectly fine... I've seen nicely used blown highlights, especially with portraits.

Great subject, great pose.
Only the cluttered and blown background bothers me in these.
Lighting of the subject could be better also (needing supplementary lights), but who knows if you'll get the chance to work on this fellow again...

I like those shots....they convey real life, not staged, not particularly pretty, just real in the most base sense of the meaning. The technical part just doesn't matter much, the subject rules in such shots as these.

I would love to spend time just street shooting, and someday may try it. Some of these street people are more interesting than the shots...if you take a few minutes to listen. I shot this when I first got my DS, my first DSLR , and was downtown near Starbucks. I bought this guy some coffee, sat and talked with him for a while, and found him quite interesting, and intelligent.....just an apparent victim of his own making.....aren't we all? In the end, he told me the bag was a suitcase nuke he bargained for with Russian Spy......he was very proud of it!

Not the best of shots, even for a Newbie that had yet to learn what
Tv or Av meant....but I still cherish the memory!
Regards!
