A bugged out Rosey Lens test
Lens: Voightlander 180mm Camera: K7 Photo Location: back yard ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/60s Aperture: F4

Rose of Sharon that is.

I recently cleared the glass out of a junk 2x TC (that has the contacts) and put it between my K7 and the Voigtlander 180mm. Makes for a nice macroish setup with about a 30 inch min focusing distance. Please try to ignore the fact the flower is on it's last stems...

looks a bit dark but none of the whites are blown so the details look good.

what do the contacts do? only pass aperture info to the body or more?

Unlike cheapo extension tubes, they allow the A lens, to remain an A lens. Everything works just as if the converter/tube wasn't there.

I like them a little dark but that's just my taste. It's more important to me to not have anything blown out in the main subject.

Thank you for your comments.

While it's good to preserve the highlights as you've done here, it's also important to project the textures of the subject, which isn't exemplified much here.

The capture also seems to be soft, likely due to camera shake (I suppose there's only so much SR can do).

No, It isn't camera shake. It's my outdoor macro nemesis. The Wind. I swear to (insert preferred deity here), I can put the camera down, the wind will stop dead. I pick it up, the wind will begin to breeze gently. Try to focus, especially with such a shallow DOF at minimum focus distance, monsoon type winds. I take what I can get in that case.

Thanks for your comments though. Good or not good, they're Always appreciated.

Ahh, that's a tough one - the only measure against such forces of nature - a physical barrier that blocks the wind but not the ambient light.
Perspex?

Well, One solution I've come up with is to pick the plant life and bring it inside. Doesn't help much when I want to catch a wasp or similar on the plant but for plain old flowers, a macro lens and a ring flash on a black background works pretty well.. I can even stop the lens down to try and get everything in focus.

DFA100mm WR, AF160 Ring Flash, 1/180, f32. Now if there is any fuzzyness in this one, it Is camera shake.
