Wheat Fields with Crows
Lens: Tamron 18-250 Camera: K-x Photo Location: Los Penisquitos, CA ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/1500s Aperture: F5.6

One of my shots for class where we are suppose to shoot "outside". Outside being either nature or socially outside. Easy to guess which one I went with.

This photo is going to be critique in class by peers (other novices), so I wanted some feedback from experienced shooters.

i like it looks like a painting.

the middle bird looks a bit strange so maybe clone that out.

My immediate reaction is that I like it very much, and I agree that it is reminiscent of a certain style of painting that I do like.

You crop is effective. The colors are very nice. Composition works well.

A "flock" of crows is called a murder of crows. I'd be tempted to call it just that.

woof!

a group is called a murder of crows as WOOF said....good name for a shot

I k like the shot, it has appeal and a "Winter is coming" look to it. There is something about it I would like to see different...but I can't seem to place what it is for sure. Maybe a lighter foreground? Not sure, but if it was mine I would play with it a little.
Very nice composition to catch the "unkindly ones".
Best Regards!

Actually, it is a "murder of crows" and an "unkindness of ravens".

That's a pleasant photograph to view, a great mood maker.
Some improvements: I would add a very moderate amount of lightening to the foreground wheat fields to remove some of the muddled look, yet keep the quiet.
The clouds need some work. I could go either of two ways:
-use clarity to better define the clouds (and only the clouds), the birds will pop more also; or
-use negative clarity or some other blurring to further soften the clouds and make them more ethereal. Would coordinate with the wheat pretty well too.

Your class review should be interesting.
