Shelby Revisited...
Lens: DA*50-135 Camera: K20D Photo Location: Texas ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F8

On Tuesday I had another opportunity to shoot Shelby. This was more a learning lesson...for me.... than anything else, and a chance to use my new Hair Light/Boom.

I did manage to eliminate the shadows in a lot of the shots, and was mostly happy with the results, but still have a long journey to get where I need to be. Any comments you might offer that will help are appreciated in advance!
Best Regards!

Would you like to be seen by the world Shelby?

Same settings at 108mm...

Relax Shelby, it isn't all that scary!

Bonjour,

Le fond de l'image se confond avec la jeune fille et l'ensemble est assez jaune... et sur mon écran manque cruellement de netteté... sinon beau modèle !!!

I'm not seeing any yellow cast but it could be my screen. I'm glad to see that if her hands need to be in the photo, there's a point to it..

Keep up the good work, Rupert. I always enjoy seeing these young Texas cuties

I too see a slight yellowish cast on the second photo, could just be color balance and easily corrected. Both are nice portraits, and I think that Shelby is kind of getting into it. I think that you have a good model here. Congratulations on some nice photos.

PJFB- I didn't really notice the yellow until you mentioned it...but now I do. I do need to work on WB, many have told me the same many times....and since I favor yellow, that is usually where my problem is. Thanks for the input!

Jeff- Yes, they are lovely girls, but their easy going personalities are what makes them shine in my eyes. Very patient as old Rupert tries to learn this type of shooting. Thanks as usual for your comments.

Now for one of my favorites from the shoot Tuesday....everything about it may be wrong...but it is what has personal appeal to me......

Thank you JimH! Yes, she is a talented girl. She has never modeled and was so excited at being asked the first time a few weeks ago, that she went out and bought a book on posing and studied it. She is so "into it" that it makes it fun and exciting. She is just a young girl struggling to work her way through college, and has been mostly a "Wallflower" without much attention......until now. I can't recall anyone that has so many different looks...it is a natural talent, and I hope she can use it to her advantage. Your words are most appreciated, I will a pass them along to her!
Best Regards!

Watch all those stray strands of hair. Catchlights are a little too pinpoint for my liking.

The yellow cast is what gives the '70's magazine look :-)
I would have her not wear fingernail decorations suitable for preteens, though.

I see the yellow....don't really see any pink on my screen? Yes, the fingernails........she was proud of them...you know young girls! I don't push too hard, these girls are a big help to me so I let them do their own thing pretty much.
Best Regards& Thanks!
