Does this work as a B&W. The lighter mountain in the background was overexposed and I attempted to correct it then convert to B&W. Not sure it worked though it does look better than it did in color. Any comments/criticism.

Aperture 1/18 Shutter speed was actually 1/3s

I like the scene and I think there is great merit and potential in the picture especially with a bw treatment. On my monitor the shadows need to be brightened more to bring out the shadow detail especially the tree and leading lines of the rock face which draw my eye to the light at the end of the road/trail. Nice texture in the rocks and nicely composed. I hope you don't mind me posting a retouched image of your picture for explanation purposes only.

Thanks a lot Joe for taking the time to comment and improve on the photo. I definitely did not mind your retouching it for me. Looks better already and I see what you mean about the shadows needing brightening.
Thanks again, Susan

The lighter shadows makes for a huge improvement.

Thanks Paul. Wish I could take credit for the improvement but I have to give Joe the pat on the back for that one. I have been working on it however and it seems to be coming along nicely although it won't make Ansel lose any sleep.
