Title notwithstanding - first thing I saw was the tree trunk on the left third of the photo, not the road.

It is a very nicely exposed shot though it feels a bit overprocessed or HDR-ish to me. Not sure if it was or not, but the tones seem a bit too even to be realistic.

I wonder if it would work better in b&w with a bit of the top and left cropped to highlight the road?

I would crop it on the bottom to where the top right of the road hits the bottom of the picture and to the bottom of the top branch and to the right of the of the big tree. I can post what I mean if you like.

I like it.
The angle probably captures reality. However, if that's not true, please consider adjustiment so the image does not appear to tilt as much to the left.
Best wishes,
Stu

I like it, very realistic and true to life for my eyes. Maybe a little over processed? Not much if so. The tilt does bother me too, even if it is realistic, but it is not a deal killer.

What I don't like is what I perceive to be red Georgia Mud...is that correct? Not that I would change that in the shot, it is fine, but I have a cousin that lives in far N Texas on a Red Mud road......and I visited him a while back in my Jeep Wrangler that I had just spent an entire day waxing and detailing...it was "Perfect" inside and out. As I turned on to his 6 mile red dirt road it began to rain hard. You know the rest.....it may never all come off.
Best Regards! & Happy New Year

This is what I prefer anyway.

Sparkle, too much is lost in that one for me, but you could have at least paved that road......the red mud is near impossible to remove from my Jeep.
Best Regards!

I definately prefer the original. Just fix the tilt and I think you have a beautiful picture of a winding country road on a frosty day. Lovely!

Nice job on the edits as is, I quite like it. Looking deeper, I would change:

Localized contrast adjustments and some dodging and burning, to pull your focus immediately to the roadway, and not the trees on the left/lone skinny tree on the right side. Using those as framing as you do is a good move, so I wouldn't crop too much differently than you did. The other most interesting part is the branch on the top of the frame, and so I'd up the contrast there as well.

I just wish there was one final point of interest, like a dog running down the road, or a fellow walking through the snow to finalize the image.

How about a Green Jeep stuck in the mud? LOL!

That last one is very nice indeed.

I like the final version very much - the color and cropping really improves the picture.
